Safari just got a badger with a grudge against trackers

EFF's free tracking blocker has arrived on the Mac browser. iPhone users still have to wait.

Privacy Badger, the Electronic Frontier Foundation's free tracker-blocking extension, is now available for Safari on macOS. EFF announced the release on 19 October. It requires Safari 26.5 or later.

The extension is designed to stop tracking code from loading, including certain embedded social posts and video players. Those can become placeholders you choose to activate, instead of loading automatically. EFF says this adds protection beyond Safari's built-in features.

There is a platform-sized catch: this release is for Macs. EFF says it plans to investigate Safari on iOS after working through any macOS issues; it has not announced an iPhone release date in this update.

This account comes from the organisation that makes the tool. The release is real; Juicepaper has not independently tested its performance or every privacy claim.
